The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has granted the Pakistani hockey team a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to participate in the Asian Championships in India. The PSB issued the NOC after receiving the permission of the relevant ministries and agencies.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from August 3-12 in Chennai, with Pakistan starting its campaign against Malaysia on August 3. In addition to Malaysia, Pakistan will also face India, South Korea, Japan and China in the competition. Pakistan has a successful history at the Asian Champions Trophy, winning the championship in 2012 and 2013. In 2018, the trophy was split between Pakistan and India.
South Korea is the defending champion of the event, having won the title in 2021 by beating Japan in the final. On the eve of the tournament, PHF President Brigadier General (R) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar visited the team camp to send his best wishes for the event in India. It also provides players with daily allowances and rewards the youth team, which took second place at the AFC Youth Cup.
