Don 3 director Farhan Akhtar has admitted that he hopes Ranveer Singh will play the role in the upcoming sequel.
Since then, Akhtar has shared his first look at Singh as a new don, with netizens mocking him for replacing the legendary Shah Rukh Khan with Ranveer Singh.
Regardless of the backlash, the director of “Dil Chahta Hai” revealed that he hopes actor ‘Simmba’ will do a great job in the role.
He told Khaleej Times:
“I’m not worried and neither should he. I can say that without a shadow of a doubt, he will deliver a great performance in the movie.
However, the Rock On actor also admitted that “it’s natural for people to react like that. In 2006, people said ‘How can you touch Mr. Bachchan’s craft?’ and how will Shah Rukh play the role. So it is easy to understand.
Akhtar is right that people have an emotional connection to certain movies that they can’t undo.
“You have to respect it. And I respect everyone’s feelings for Don. People who are disappointed, I respect their feelings, people who are excited, I respect their feelings,” he said.
The Don brand was founded in 1978 with Amitabh Bachchan, led by Chandra Barot. Later, Shah Rukh Khan replaced Big B to play Don in the 2006 and 2011 films, Pinkvilla reported.
