Ensuring Imran Khan’s Safety: Prison Department Installed CCTV Cameras Outside His Cell

A new toilet with 5-foot-high walls and a door has been built for Pakistani President Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Prime Minister Imran Khan at Attock Prison, a spokesman for the Bureau of Prisons said.

All facilities available under Rules 257 and 771 of the 1978 Pakistan Prison Rules were made available to the head of PTI, according to PPD’s clarification notice.
Khan is currently serving a three-year sentence in Attock prison after being found guilty of corruption in the Toshakhana case earlier this month.

The judge in those submissions – published Monday and compiled August 15 – said Khan, during his visit, expressed “serious concerns” about the infringement of his rights. his privacy and the prevailing prison living conditions.
He raised significant concerns about a CCTV placed in front of the bars of his prison, located 5 to 6 feet away, covering a bathroom with an open-air toilet. Regarding CCTV cameras, the spokesperson said that they are installed outside the room.
“CCTVs have been installed outside Imran Khan’s room for his safety and that of the prison. More than 4,000 CCTV cameras have been installed not only at the Attock County Jail but also in other prisons. in Punjab for security purposes,” the statement added.
He added that amenities such as bath soap, perfume, air freshener, towels, tissues are provided along with the bed, pillow, mattress, table, chair, air conditioner and exhaust fan.
