Multan Sultans making history: Hijab Zahid appointed as the PSL’s first female general manager

The Multan Sultans are breaking barriers and making headlines for the best possible reason. They just appointed the first female CEO in PSL’s history.

“Hijab Zahid”, is also the youngest general manager in franchise history and will become one of the only women appointed to lead the T20 franchise globally.

Hijab is currently the manager of Grassroots Cricket, a position she has held since the beginning of the year. She replaced outgoing general manager Haider Azhar.
According to sources, Hijab holds a master’s degree in project management from the University of Hertfordshire and previously served as communications director for Islamabad United.

“It’s much more difficult to assert her authority as a woman,” Zahid told the publication. Culturally, it’s harder for men to follow women’s instructions. We have people in this industry who have never been in contact with women in their lives through no fault of their own, especially in this power sector”.
“So, I hope we will have more conversations and workshops about letting women take the lead here. While people are used to women taking up such positions in the business world in Pakistan, this is not the case in the sports world. In the future, we want to train people to be analysts, presenters, media managers. This will open the doors for many women.
