Pakistan celebrates National Defense and Martyrs Day with patriotism

Pakistan’s military leaders paid tribute to the country’s fallen soldiers on the 58th Day of National Defense and Martyrs. The annual event on September 6 marks the day in 1965 when Indian forces crossed the border and launched an offensive into Pakistan’s eastern province of Punjab.

The military’s media arm, Inter-Military Public Relations (ISPR), issued a statement citing statements from the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and all military commanders. They highlighted the importance of the day, citing the heroism and sacrifice of past generations as a source of inspiration.

The ISPR said the country’s freedom and peace are the result of the sacrifice of martyrs and veterans and that the Pakistani military remains committed to defending the country from all threats, both internal and external. The ISPR also warned that any attempt by the enemy to destroy the peace in Pakistan would be met with the full force of the Pakistani military.
