Turkish President “Recep Tayyip Erdogan” was sworn in as president for a third term on Saturday with his historic runoff victory.
“As president, I swear my honor and integrity before the great Turkish people that I will do everything in my power to protect the existence and independence of the state … and I will do my duty impartially,” Erdogan later said. He saluted his soldiers in a pouring rain at a ceremony in front of the Houses of Parliament.
After Erdogan was sworn in, parliamentary supporters gave him a standing ovation though some opposition lawmakers refused to stand.
Mr Erdogan promised not to deviate from the rule of law and the secular principles of Mr Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. Prime Minister Shebaz Sharif attended the ceremony along with world leaders.On behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan, he congratulated President Erdogan.The two leaders shook hands and exchanged greetings.
The President Erdogan expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister and wished people of Pakistan the best of luck.
