Pakistan has expressed big concern over the idea of Akhand Bharat (Greater India), which is being increasingly run by the ruling Indian dispensation.Speaking in a press briefing on Thursday, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch regretted the installation of a mural at the new parliament building in New Delhi. The mural states so-called modern India, including areas that now constitute parts of Pakistan and other countries. “We are furious over the statements made by some BJP politicians, including a union minister, linking the mural with Akhand Bharat, she said. The FO spokesperson said that “The increasing dissemination of the ideas of Akhand Bharat by members of India’s ruling elite is of great concern.I strongly advise against using rhetoric against other countries just to promote theirfilthy agenda. She urges upon to cooperate with them to build a peaceful and prosperous South Asia. She also expressed her concern over India’s recent attempt to seek the death penalty for prominent Kashmir leader Yassin Malik. Malik was sentenced to death in prison last year in a hoax case marked by fabricated charges and a lack of a fair trial.Despite her deteriorating health, she was being held in inhumane conditions at the infamous Tihar Prison. This political retaliation was aimed at silencing the Kashmiri leadership and intimidating the Kashmiri people. This is a manifestation of India’s unending and widespread crackdown at the IIOJC, where political leaders and human rights defenders are routinely imprisoned on fabricated and unsubstantiated charges,” she said.A spokesman for the vice president called on Indian authorities to stop the farcical trial against Malik.“He must have access to quality medical care and be able to live freely among those around him and his family. India must also immediately and unconditionally release Kashmiri leaders and human rights activists who are unjustly detained in IIOJK and prisons across India,” she stressed.
